If you have tuned in to any #SMCEDU chat on Twitter, then you know there is a LOT to talk about and even more to do to bring social media and technology into all aspects of education -- academic departments and departmental curricula, course syllabi, classrooms ...
If you've been a part of the chats, you also know how incredibly caring and brilliant some of our friends are. So in order to get the greatest value from our time together, we are going to host a World Café, where we will harness our collective brain power in small group conversations with each other. This event will be facilitated by Social Media Club Founder Chris Heuer, who will host a Q&A after the event.
Our focus? To discuss how we can better prepare college students with the Social Media skills they need to enter the modern workforce, and responsibly participate in society.
To kick things off, we will be joined by Marcie T. Hull who is the Technology Coordinator for the Science Leadership Academy (SLA) in Philadelphia, PA where she is part of the founding staff. She currently writes a blog, where she reflects upon the development of SLA and posts her thoughts and opinions about trends in education. For her keynote address, Marcie will share her vision for the use of social media and technology at SLA.
After the keynote we will begin the first of 3 rounds of conversations in small groups of 4-5 people at each table. In each round, we will discuss a different question in our groups, changing tables between rounds. One person at each table will be tasked with reporting out what the groups discussed and this will be captured on video to share online.
This is a can't miss event for educators, social media professionals, career planners and human resource managers.
